Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today began his three-day ‘sadbhavna’ fast – for peace, unity and communal harmony – in the BJP-ruled states. The fast was marked with the presence of top BJP leaders like L K Advani, Arun Jaitely and Sahanawaz Hussain amongst others.
Moreover, in a bid to attract maximum mass appeal, even a few Congress leaders have organized their own fast outside the Gandhi Ashram, on the Sabarmati bank. Media have reported this face-off between these popular movements of both the parties as Sadbhavna vs. Satyagraha.
While LJP has termed the Sadbhavna fast of Modi as a political stunt in trying to project him as a secular leader; Gujarat Congress leaders Shankarsinh Vaghela and Arjun Modhvadia have countered this move by joining the bandwagon of fasting even before that of the Narendra Modi.
