BSE Sensex trades flat – Awaiting clarity on Euro zone debt!

BSE Sensex ended the day with a flat 34 point loss. The major losers amongst the index constituents were Hero MotoCorp, Hindalaco, Maruti Suzuki, Cairn India and JSW Steel, all of which were down in the range of 2-3%.

Among the Mid-cap losers were Dominos pizza-fame Jubilant Foodworks, K S Oils (down 10%) and Bajaj Hindustan (8%). The list of prominent Mid-cap gainers included Century Textiles (4%), Shree Renuka Sugars (4%), Torrent Power (3.7%) and Titan Industries (3.5%).


Titan Industries was also recently in news for promoting its GoldPlus brand of jewellery by encrusting Tata Nano with 80 kgs of gold and and 15 kgs of silver, valuing the world’s cheapest car at a whopping Rs.22 crore worth.

Among sub-indices, Bank Nifty and Consumer Durables sector were in the thick of the action during the session with over 100 point gains in both the indices. The auto sector logged in losses on reports that car makers have slashed output ahead of the festive season on concerns of high interest rates.
