During the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2012 in Goa on Wednesday, effective discussions were made on the key issues faced by the IT companies in India. IT spending in India is projected to a total of USD 71.5 billion in 2013, a 7.7 percent increase from the $66.4 billion forecasted for 2012, according to Gartner Inc.

INDIA GRABS THE OPPORTUNITY:

Mr Sondergaard said “India is just similar to any other Booming market and it continues to exercise a strong momentum despite Rupee value pressures and appreciation of local currencies are expected to rise in the economies.

Apart from this, the telecommunications market is one of the largest IT segment in India with IT spending forecast to reach $47.8 billion in 2013. The computing hardware market in India is projected to reach $9.5 billion in 2013, and software spending will reach to an extent of $4.0 billion.

Moreover, Software will record the strongest revenue growth rate at 15 percent while IT services will grow at 12 percent. The telecom segment, which accounts for 67 percent of the Indian IT market, is set to grow at 7 percent revenue growth by 2013.

It is sure that the “hardware segment will generate 14.1 percent at the end of 2016 as it is driven by positive and vibrant contributions from the storage and the client computing segment," said Partha Iyengar, head of research at Gartner India. "Mobile phones will continue to be a fastest growing device within the Indian IT market.

During the same period, this segment will also account for nearly 42 percent of all telecommunications revenue in India, and it will also account for nearly 26 percent of the overall IT spending."
