India’s January 2012 Exports at $25.35 bn, Trade deficit at $14.7 bn !

India’s January 2012 exports came in at $25.35 billion, up 10.10% year on year. The cumulative value of exports for the 10 month period of the fiscal year 2012 stood at $242.80 billion.

The value of imports in the country surged by 20.30% YoY to arrived at $40.10 billion, marred by higher crude oil imports. Oil imports came in higher by 26.78% at $12.32 billion as compared to $9.72 billion notched in the corresponding period last year.

Thus, India’s trade deficit for January came in screwed at $14.70 billion vs. $10.30 billion logged during January 2011. Trade deficit for the April 2011 to January 2012 stood at $148.60 billion as against $105.90 billion YoY.
