TATA has remained the most valuable brand in India for a very long time, and continues to do so. Interbrand, the foremost authority that assesses value of a brand has released their 2013 rankings and has valued TATA brand at USD 10.9 Billion.

Reliance, which is one of the most diversified group in India, is the second most valuable brand with a value of USD 6.24 billion. Reliance split into two entities about 6 years and Mukesh Ambani led Reliance has been able to maintain the steady growth, but the other entity led by Mukesh’s younger brother Anil Ambani has found the going tough. The Reliance Communication brand value is pegged at USD 988 million with it being 18th most valuable brand.

India’s biggest Telecom company Airtel is the 3rd most valued brand in India. It’s value is fractionally lesser than Reliance Industries at USD 6.22 billion.

State owned State Bank of India (USD 3.84 Bln) and Software giant Infosys (USD 3.79 Bln) round up the top 5.

HDFC Bank (USD 3.27 bln) and ICICI Bank (USD 2.57 bln) are the 2 other banks in the Top 10 ranking.

Among few other things, I was quite surprised to note that Bajaj (USD 2.132 Bln) ranked higher than Maruti Suzuki (USD 1.6 bln), that too by quite a large margin.

Also, as per Interbrand India has 17 billion dollar brands in India.
