Festival days of October and November are round the corner, and we have started receiving vibes of the festive season.

Atleast for online shopping!

As per predictions coming in, around 2 crore online shoppers from India are expected to splurge Rs 21,000 crore on online shopping, only during the 5 festive days of October!

How did these numbers come up? And which categories would witness maximum online shopping?

$3 Billion of Online Shopping in 5 Days?

Redseer Consulting, a leading research firm has conducted an in-depth study into the festive days shopping on online portals, and some interesting numbers have been revealed.

As per the findings, 20 million or 2 crore Indians will come online this October and spend $2.5 to $3 billion or Rs 18,000 crore to Rs 21,000 crore on buying products online.

These numbers are huge, because this festive season, $527 million of GMV or Gross Merchandise Value/day is expected across online portals, which is almost double of last year, when $280 to $300 million worth of daily GMV was observed during these 5 days.

Another comparison: During May-July 2018, GMV of approximately $61 million was observed.

Hence, this October, online portals can expect 8.5X more daily sales, compared to the rest of the year.

While 13-15 million online shoppers had come online and shopped last year during the festive days, more than 20 million are expected to shop this year in the month of October.

Which Category Of Items Will Be The Best Sellers?

Matching the trends of last years, mobiles and tablets will be the #1 category this year as well, cornering around 52% share of overall online shopping.

Other electronics items such as TV, music systems etc will have 23% share, while clothes and fashion accessories will grab 15% share, up from 13% last year.

This year, the sale of furniture is expected to pick up.

In order to lure rural users, Amazon India has already launched their hindi portal, which no other e-commerce portal is currently offering.

Besides Flipkart too has launched their own version of eBay with 2Gud.com

EMI on debit cards, faster deliveries etc are some of the offers which Amazon, Flipkart and others have already launched, keeping in mind the festive day sales.
