After a jam-packed July, the smartphone launches are to double in August. With the festive season ahead, smartphone companies are gearing up with their best smartphones for the Indian market.

July saw some big launches like Honor 9N, Oppo Find X, Vivo NEX, Moto E5 duo and more.

But get ready, because August is going to be bigger. From Xiaomi Mi A2 to Nokia X6 to Samsung Galaxy Note 9, August is going to have some of the biggest smartphone launches of 2018.

Here is our list of the top smartphones which are scheduled and expected to launch in India in August.

Xiaomi Mi A2

After Xiaomi globally unveiled Mi A2 on July 24 at Madrid, the next-gen Mi A smartphone will be making its way to India on August 8. Expected to be priced under Rs 20,000, the Android One smartphone will come in two variants and multiple color options. Coming to specifications, the smartphone will come with a 5.99 inch Full HD+ widescreen display on top backed by a Snapdragon 660 chipset.

Xiaomi Mi A2 comes will come with a rear dual camera setup comprising of a 12-megapixel primary lens coupled with a 20-megapixel secondary depth lens. Up front, it will come with a 20-megapixel AI-powered shooter, and the whole unit will be backed by a 3,010 mAh battery with Quick Change 4.0 support.

Motorola One Power

Motorola will be launching its first budget Android One device in the country in August. Expected to be named Motorola One Power, the smartphone will come with a 6.23-inch Full HD+ 19:9 elongated display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset under with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. Coming to optics, the Motorola One Power will come with rear dual camera system comprising of a 12 primary lens coupled with a 5 megapixel secondary. Up front, it will come with an 8-megapixel sensor.

The device will run stock Android with guaranteed version update for two years. The Moto One Power is expected to come with a notch backed by a 3,780mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9

The much-awaited next-gen Samsung Note flagship will be making its way to India in August. The Galaxy Note 9 is expected to launch at Samsung’s Unpacked event on August 9 at New York. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will come with a 6.3 inch super AMOLED 19.2:9 bezel-less display with a similar physical design like Note 8. At the back, the smartphone will come with a rear dual setup combining two 12 megapixel sensors equipped with OIS. Up front, Note 9 will have an 8-megapixel sensor.

It will get powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor or the Exynos 9810 chipset with up to 512GB storage and a huge 4,000mAh battery. A redesigned S Pen stylus will come with the device with Bluetooth feature.

Sony Xperia XZ3

Sony recently introduced Xperia XZ2 in India, and the Xperia XZ3 is now expected to debut in the country in August. The company launched its all new 48MP IMX 586 CMOS sensor that is said to be the best smartphone sensor available in the market right now. It uses the latest Quad Bayer technology to process high quality images. The smartphone will come with a 5.7-inch Full HD+ 18:9 widescreen display and Snapdragon 845 SoC with 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The smartphone will carry a 3,240mAh battery and will run Android P out of the box. The Sony Xperia XZ3 is expected to be priced at around Rs 55,000 or more.

Moto Z3

India will be getting its first 5G smartphone from Motorola this month. The Lenovo-owned Motorola will be launching its premium Moto Z3 in India in August. The smartphone will be globally unveiled at an event in Chicago on August 2, and it will make its way to India by the end of this month. The Moto Z3 will feature the signature Moto Z design with slim bezels on the sides. The upcoming Moto Z3 is expected to come with a 6-inch Full HD+ display and an all-new Moto Mod.

As per the leaks, the new Moto Mod will come with a “5G” branding that indicates that the Moto Z3 will have a special Mod with 5G support for data and cellular connections.

Nokia X6

After months of speculation and leaks, the notched Nokia X6 will probably launch in India as Nokia 6.1 in August. The smartphone was launched a couple of months back in China, and it is awaiting a release worldwide. The upcoming Nokia smartphone has a 5.8 inch IPS LCD notched display in a 19:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 636 with up to 6GB of RAM. The device is expected to come in two storage variants and an option to expand the memory.

It has a dual rear camera setup at the back with a 16MP sensor on the front. The smartphone comes with a 3,060mAh battery with support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging. The smartphone is expected to be priced under Rs 20,000 in India.

Honor Play

The Huawei sub-brand has launched multiple smartphones in the Indian market in the last couple of quarters. One again, the company will be launching another device, named Honor Play which is going to very common to its recently launched Huawei Nova 3. The smartphone will come with a 6.3 inch IPS LCD 19.5:9 display backed by a Hisilicon Kirin 970 chipset. The upcoming Honor Play will also come with AI features just like Huawei Nova 3 and Nova 3i.

It will come with total of four camera sensors and is expected to launch in two storage variants. The device is currently starts at CNY 1,999 (around Rs 20,250) in China.

Oppo F9 Duo

Oppo will continue to dominate its selfie-centric market in India with F-series smartphones. The Chinese company is expected to launch Oppo F9 Pro and F9 in August in the country. The Oppo F9 Pro is expected to come with a 6.23-inch Full HD+ display and a 25-megapixel camera up front. The smartphone has a similar design to Rubin’s Essential Phone from last year.

Going by the teaser, the Oppo F9 Pro could be waterproof. The F9 Pro will come with a whopping screen-to-body ratio of 90.8 percent.
