In a surprise move, Reliance Jio has announced 2 GB/day data extra for some selected users. We will soon share who all are able to get this offer.

Meanwhile, Jio has announced their financial results, and there is some good news for all shareholders: They have been able to post third quarterly straight profit, which is a rare phenomenon for a new telecom operator.

What is the secret here?

2GB/Day Extra For Some Jio Users!

Some ‘selected users’ of Jio have been offered 2GB/day additional data, for no charge. Named as ‘Digital Pack’, this automatically gives 2GB of data to the users.

Hence, if a user is right now using 2GB/day plan, then after the activation of this plan, the total data would become 4GB /day.

There is no update as to how this additional data pack can be activated/bought, or what are the criteria based on which this additional data pack is rolled out.

There are no additional SMS benefits or calling plan involved in this.

And, the biggest twist: This data pack is only valid till July 30th, after which it will expire.

Some users can get couple of days extra with this plan, but overall, this is a surprise plan, most probably offered to new users.

The only way to find out whether you have received this pack or not is to open My Jio app, and checkout your plan details. Or else, you can check Data Booster section as well.

Do let us know if you have received this additional data pack!

Recently, Jio had introduced plans with 6-month validity in India.

Jio’s Third Quarterly Profits!

Jio has announced their financial numbers for the quarter ending June, and there are all green symbols on their balance sheet.

For the third straight quarter, Jio has churned out profits and have surprised one and all.

Between April and June, Jio posted revenues of Rs 8109 crore, which is an increase of 13.8%, compared to last quarter. This way, they beat Vodafone which had posted revenues of Rs 7860 crore for Q1 of 2018.

Against revenues of Rs 8109 crore, Jio managed to book profits of Rs 612 crore, increased from Rs 510 crore in the last quarter.

The results have surprised analysts and stock market observers because Jio is the youngest telecom player as of now, and all existing telecom companies have reported massive reduction in revenues and profits.

While Vodafone’s revenue decreased by 31%, Airtel posted decreased revenues of 13.5%.

Idea too is expected to report heavy losses.

However, there is one concern about Jio, which can bother the management: ARPU or Average Revenue Per User.

From Rs 137 in the first quarter, Jio’s ARPU has now dropped to Rs from Rs 134.50 this quarter. However, this ARPU is still bigger than Airtel’s ARPU, which came around Rs 105.

We will keep you updated, as we receive more news.
