New Rs 100 Currency Note Is 100% Make In India – 7 Facts You Should Know!

This is official, and confirmed. A new Rs 100 currency note is about to be launched in India, replacing the old Rs 100 note.

Reserve Bank of India or RBI has issued a formal notification in this regard.

Here are 7 interesting facts about this new currency note:

    100% Make in India

As per Govt. officials, this would be the first currency note which will be 100% Make in India. Not only the currency note was designed in India, but also printed on currency paper which has been developed in India. The ink, the security features and everything else in completely Make in India.

Kaza Sudhakar, who is the managing director of Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran, which prints currency notes in India said, “This is a dream come true.”

  • Printing Location?

The new Rs 100 currency notes will be printed at BRBNM Design Studio in Mysore. It has a dimension of 66 mm x 142 mm.

  • Availability?

The dimensions of the new Rs 100 currency notes is entirely different from the existing Rs 100 notes. This means that the availability of the new currency notes will take some time, as the ATMs will be required to be recalibrated. Experts are guessing that the new notes shall be available by August end.

  • New Design?

Yes, the new currency has entirely new design and concept. The currency notes has base color of lavender, and has been designed with a new look. Both at obverse and reverse, there exists geometric patterns, which have specially designed for the new Rs 100 note.

  • What Is There In The Reverse Side?

The new Rs 100 currency note’s backside has image of ‘Rani-ki-Vav’, a cultural hotspot in Patan, Gujarat. UNESCO has recognized Rani-ki-Vav as a World Heritage Site in 2014. It is known for its architectural beauty, and was constructed as a temple and water storage system.

Interestingly, all the new currency notes introduced in the last two years has India’s major heritage sites in the reverse side –  The new Rs 200 currency note has Sanchi Stupa in the back side, whereas the new Rs 10 note has Konark Sun Temple in the backside. The new fluorescent blue Rs 50 currency note has Stone Chariot in Hampi, another UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • What Is There In The Front Side?

Besides a latent image of Rs 100 in numeric form, the front side also features see-through view of Rs 100 in numbers and denominational 100 written in Devnagri script.

Also in Devnagri scripts are written words: ‘India’, ;Bharat’, ‘100’ and RBI in micro-letters.

  • Other Features?

For assisting the visually-impaired, the new Rs 100 currency note has: raised printing of Mahatma Gandhi portrait, Ashoka Pillar emblem, a raised triangular identification mark with micro-text 100 written and four angular bleed lines on right and left sides.
