Teenagers Will Get License For Gearless 100cc Bikes

Good news for teenagers, and 2-wheeler manufacturers in India: Govt. will make their lives easier.

Very soon, 16 to 18-year-olds can get a license to drive gearless 2-wheelers, which are under 100CC. This is expected to trigger a lot of new sale of 2-wheelers in India.

And, teenagers, who are anyways driving such vehicles, will get ‘official’ clearance.

Meanwhile, a proposal has been submitted for green number plates for electric vehicles.

Driving Licence for Teenagers For Gearless 100CC Bikes?

As of now, driving license is issued to those, who are above 18 years of age and driving any vehicle. This is as per Central Motor Vehicles Act rules.

However, there is no license required to drive a 2-wheeler with 50CC engine capacity.

Now, the problem is that there is no such vehicle with 50CC capacity, and this is the reason that a lot of 16 to 18-year-olds drive gearless 2-wheeler in cities. This fact was informed to the Govt. by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Govt. has now planned to make their movements official.

Very soon, 16 to 18-year-olds  will be provided with a special license to drive gearless 2 wheelers, which are under 100CC engine capacity.

Analysts are saying that this will trigger massive sales of sub-100CC 2-wheelers in India, and will make lives of 16 to 18-year-olds easier.

Green Number Plates?

Besides, Road and Transport Ministry has suggested the concept of green number plates for electric vehicles.

This has been suggested keeping in mind the promotion of electric vehicles in India, and Govt.’s plan to make all vehicles electric by 2020.

Green number plates will have a green colour, instead of the regular white or yellow background.

Hence, green number plate vehicles will get special treatment at parking spots and during tests. In short, electric vehicle owners will be provided with special privileges, to encourage more usage and adoption.

And, permits for electric vehicles can also be relaxed, on the line of e-rickshaws. Hence, anyone with an electric vehicle can very soon travel anywhere, do any transport business, without any permits.

Recently, all Govt. officials in New Delhi were asked to ride only in electric vehicles, and earlier, special incentives and promotions were announced to make electric vehicles popular.

Do you think such incentives and programs for electric vehicles can incite more usage and more growth?
