Netflix Would Be Free For Airtel Users? How Will Jio Respond Now!

Netflix Free For Airtel users?

Airtel users have a good news: Very soon, they will be able to access Netflix for free!

No confirmation has arrived yet, but as per insider reports, advanced talks are in full swing, a formal announcement can be made soon.

The question is, how will Jio respond now?

Netflix Would Be Free For Airtel Users?

As per incoming reports, which are unconfirmed as of now, Airtel may soon reach an agreement with Netflix, which will allow their users free access to the popular on-demand video streaming app.

This will include all popular TV series on Netflix such as Stranger Things, Narcos, Black Mirror and more. Netflix hosts 125 million hours of TV shows and movies per day.

Advance level talks are on between Airtel and Netflix, and things are at the final stage now.

As per PTI, an unnamed official privy to the talks have said, “Netflix and Airtel are in advanced discussions for an exclusive tie-up to offer Netflix content to Airtel mobile customers. Several rounds of discussions have been completed between the two companies and the deal could be announced in the coming weeks,”

Currently, minimum plan of Netflix starts at Rs 500. But once this deal is finalized, Airtel users will pay nothing to access massive, exclusive content of Netflix.

As per the source, Airtel users will be asked to spend their data only.

How Will Jio Respond Now!

If this exclusive deal between Airtel and Netflix materializes, then it can prove to be a big development, especially for Jio.

Right now, Jio TV, which is Jio’s own app for accessing TV and movies online has 100 million+ users, whereas Airtel TV app has only 10 million+ users.

Netflix’s association with Airtel can no doubt change this equation.

While Jio TV has formed solid partnerships with almost every popular TV channel, Airtel TV is right now focussed on movie content only.

On Jio TV, users can watch a host of TV series from channels such as Colors, Republic, Star TV, Star Plus, Star Sports, Star Movies Select, Life OK, Movies OK, Sony MAX, Sony MIX, Sony Pal, Sony ESPN, Sony Six, Zee TV, & TV, and more.

On the other hand, Airtel provides free 1 year Amazon Prime access for their postpaid and broadband users, and have some exclusive partnerships for Bollywood movies such as Bahubali, Bajirao Mastani, Teen, Housefull 3 etc,; Hollywood movies such as Spider Man series, The Da Vinci Code, Finding Neverland, Hancock etc.

Besides, Airtel TV also provides access to some TV series such The Big Bang Theory, 24, Two and a half Men etc.

It is clearly evident that Airtel TV has less content, compared to Jio TV. But Netflix can change the equation.

To respond to this, Jio can possibly made data access free for their Jio TV app. This is a long shot assumption, but with Reliance, nothing is impossible.
