Recruitment consultants Randstad has just released their latest report on the existing salary structure, and norms in India.
They have also analysed the different industries, and sectors, and have scooped out some really interesting details.
The study was conducted across 1,00,000 jobs spread over 20 industry verticals and 15 key functions.

Bengaluru Employees Highest-Paid
As per Randstad study, an average employee in Bengaluru gets the maximum salary in the whole country. Rs 10.8 lakh is the average salary of a professional in Bengaluru, as per the findings of the study.
Interestingly, Startup Genome in their report last year had said that Bengaluru techies are the least paid!
Pune Avg. Salary More Than Mumbai, Hyderabad
The study found that employees in Pune are able to generate more salary, compared to metropolitans such as Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad. An average employee in Pune is getting Rs 10.3 lakh as annual salary, compared to Rs 9.2 lakh in Mumbai.
Top 7 Indian Cities Based on Salaries
- At #1 is Bengaluru, with a salary of Rs 10.8 lakh per year.
- Pune is at #2 with a salary of Rs 10.3 lakh.
- Delhi-NCR is at #3 with a salary of 9.9 lakh.
- Mumbai is at #4 with Rs 9.2 lakh salary.
- Chennai is at #5 with a salary of Rs 8 lakh.
- Hyderabad is placed at #6 with a salary of Rs 7.9 lakh.
- Kolkata is placed at #7 with an average salary of Rs 7.2 lakh.
Healthcare & Pharma Pays The Most
After analysing various industries, and sectors, the study found that healthcare and pharma industry pays the maximum salary: Rs 9.6 lakh per annum is the average salary of a professional in health care.
Tax experts come at #2, with an average salary of Rs 9.4 lakh. The report notes that GST has increased the average salaries of account and tax experts.
FMCG comes at #3, with an average salary of Rs 9.2 lakh for this sector.
With Rs 9.1 lakh average salary, IT Sector is placed at #4.
Real Estate, Infrastructure and Construction is placed at #5 with an average salary of Rs 9 lakh.
Experienced Doctors Paid The Most
Meanwhile, if we filter down to specific professions, with an experience of 6 to 10 years, then we will find doctors to be highest paid. A doctor with experience of 6 to 10 years is right now getting Rs 18.4 lakh as average salary.
At #2 are solution architects, who are getting an average salary of Rs 15.1 lakh.
With Rs 14.8 lakh average salary, product engineering specialists are at #3.
And, new entrants in this list at blockchain technology experts, who can get salary up to Rs 14.6 lakh per annum.
