TRAI Launches Telecom Tariff Comparison Portal

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India or TRAI has now jumped into tariff comparisons as well. They have just launched a new portal, which will allow users to check and compare tariffs from various telecom operators, and make a wise decision.

In the month of February, TRAI had explicitly asked all telecom operators to be transparent in their tariffs announcements and launches.

It seems that TRAI is taking the task seriously.

Here are 4 things you need to know about TRAI’s new tariff comparison site:

Contents

#1: Only Available For Delhi-NCR Region As of Now

TRAI has stated that the new tariff comparison portal is in beta stage, and the current version shall be used to gather feedback and opinions to make the process even better.

As of now, only Delhi NCR region is covered by this portal.

#2: Compare Plans On Telecom Tariff Comparison Portal

The portal enlists all the available telecom operators, who are providing services in Delhi-NCR: Airtel, Jio, BSNL, Idea, Vodafone and Tata Tele.

In future, the telecom operators from all the regions in India will be enlisted here, so that the users are able to compare and checkout tariffs at one single place.

#3: Filter Options Available

The portal has a slew of filter options – right from basic to advanced. In the basic filtering, users have three main options: filter based on price, filter based on data and filter based on validity.

Besides, users can also filter their search based on the type of plan they want: Like Combo plan, STV plans, Top-up plans, basic recharge and more.

Both prepaid and postpaid plans are covered in this portal.

#4: Advanced Filters For Specific Usage

Besides the basic filters, there are several advanced filters as well, which will make the process of searching even more streamlined and seamless.

For instance, for local calls, there are advanced filters such as Mobile on Net – Peak time; Mobile on Net – Offpeak, Landline on Net – Offpeak and Peak and more. Under calls, users can filter for unlimited local calls, unlimited national calls and more.

Besides, filters also exist for data: Whether you need 2G, 3G or 4G; and how much data per day.

Once you select different plans from an operator, you can compare the plans and get more insights into the offerings.

As of now, we couldn’t compare plans of Airtel and Jio; but were able to compare different plans of Airtel or Jio with one another.

TRAI has placed this disclaimer at the end, though: “Consumers are requested to visit respective TSPs website/ customer care for latest applicable tariffs.”

You can check out the website right here.
