Google Home Speakers Launched in India – Echo Has Some Competition!

The Google smart speakers unveiled at the company’s annual I/O conference back in 2016 have finally made their debut in the country after a long wait. With over 400 million devices sold worldwide, Google speakers now support over 119 languages and Hindi is one of them.

The Google Home Mini will be sold in India for Rs 4,499/- and the bigger Google Home speaker will be sold for Rs 9,999/-. TheGoogle-powered speakers will available online via Flipkart and across stores in Reliance Digital, Croma, Bajaj Electronics, Vijay Sales, Sangeetha and Poorvika.

Google’s Special Integration With India-Focused Features

Both the Google speakers can be activated by saying “Ok Google“, and the speakers will fire up to work. The speakers work with Android TVs and you can control Netflix through Google Home speakers as well.

For India, the newly launched Google Home speakers will ship with six-month ad-free subscriptions from Saavn and Gaana. You can also plan routes, get horoscope, weather and much more. Google has partnered with NDTV, TOI, Aaj Tak and Dainik Bhaskar in India for live news content. You can also connect the Google smart speaker with your Chromecast device.

Build & Design

The Google Home Mini sports a donut shape with a premium built on the out. On the other hand, the Google Home is bigger with a sloped top. The Google colours flash on the device when you switch on the device and there’s also an added mute button.

The Google Home speakers can control smart lights, act as a receiver for Chromecast, control Netflix content, YouTube videos and make calls as well.

The Home speakers will come with AI-powered Google Assistant on board. You can activate your smart speaker by saying “Hey Google” or “Ok Google” and can give any command or query, and Google will answer.

The Mini has a 360-degree sound with an 40mm driver. The bigger Google Home has two side-facing passive speakers which produce a loud and clear sound.

Connectivity

Google Home Mini supports both WiFi and Bluetooth, whereas the bigger Home speaker is only Wi-Fi-enabled. You can also stream music directly from the cloud or your Google Play, Spotify and YouTube.
