OpenSignal’s much-awaited report on the 4G speed experienced in major Indian cities is out, and the new order will completely surprise you!

Navi Mumbai Tops In 4G Speed In India!

As per the findings of the report, Navi Mumbai has beaten even Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru in achieving the fastest 4G.

With an average speed of 8.72 Mbps, Navi Mumbai has been declared as the city with the best 4G speed.

This is indeed surprising for Navi Mumbai, as they have even beaten Mumbai, the parent city.

At #2 is Chennai with 8.52 Mbps average 4G speed, followed by Kolkata with 8.46 Mbps 4G speed.

Chennai has improved a lot, compared to the last OpenSignal report, where they clocked only 4.4 Mbps speed. That ranking was released last year in March.

Allahabad Has Slowest 4G Speed!

Meanwhile, from the bottom, Allahabad city has topped the chart, as the 4G speed experienced there has been declared as slowest.

In fact, Allahabad is the only city in India to have less than 4 Mbps speed, as the report found the average speed to be only 3.5 Mbps.

Lucknow, the state capital of Uttar Pradesh has second worst 4G speed in India with 4.1 Mbps speed.

Surprisingly, India’s capital New Delhi recorded 6.69 Mbps average 4G speed, thereby being placed at #7.

Cities which have better 4G speed than Delhi are Chennai, Kolkata (at #2, and #3 position); Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, which are at #4, #5 and #6 position respectively.

Surat, Kanpur, Patna, Lucknow and Allahabad are the top 5 cities with worst 4G speed in India.

Chennai Has The Fastest Broadband Speed!

Meanwhile, Ookla has released a report on the state of broadband speed in India, and there are few major surprises there as well.

Chennai has emerged as the city with the highest broadband speed of 32.67 Mbps, whereas Bengaluru is at #2 position with 31.09 Mbps broadband speed. Patna has the slowest broadband speed in India, with an average speed of 7.8 Mbps, which is 62.4 percent lower than the national average of 20.72 Mbp.

Nagpur, Jaipur, Kanpur and Ahmedabad are the other cities with worst broadband speeds.

Overall, India has been placed at 67th rank, in the global ranking of broadband speed.
