Samsung Galaxy J8 & J8 Plus Specifications Leaked On A Benchmarking Site!

After launching its Galaxy S9 flagships in the country, the South Korean tech giant soon announced its ambitious project on an all-new series of budget smartphones for India. But as it prepares for a price war with the new market leader Xiaomi, Samsung is all set to launch its latest J series smartphone.

The company hasn’t announced a powerful mid-range smartphone yet this year, but it looks like the next-gen Galaxy J smartphones will be the ones. Recently, on a benchmarking site, an unknown Samsung phone with a model number of SM-J805G was spotted. It’s looking like the new midrange Samsung Galaxy J8 Plus.

Samsung Galaxy J8 & J8 Plus – Details & Specifications

Galaxy J8 Plus will run Android Oreo out of the box with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset inside, paired with 4GB of RAM. A few days back, Samsung Galaxy J8 was spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking database with an Exynos 7870 processor with 3GB of RAM and Android Oreo.

The Galaxy J8 smartphone shares a similar set of features like its predecessor smartphones. Though, the Galaxy J8 Plus will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 with 4GB of RAM. Samsung Galaxy J8 Plus is not the first smartphone from Samsung to run the famous Snapdragon 625 chipset. Samsung Galaxy C7 and Galaxy On7 are powered by the same processor.

Geekbench Scores & Launch Date

At Geekbench, the Galaxy J8 Plus has scored 749 points with 3708 points in the single-core and multi-core tests respectively. The scores are very similar to those of the other smartphones which use Snapdragon 625 like Redmi Note 4 and Asus Zenfone 3. Also, the use of Snapdragon 625 for the Galaxy J8 Plus will be limited only to a few specific regions, and India is not one of them.

The Galaxy J8 and Galaxy J8 Plus have been leaked on the Geekbench database for a couple of times, but Samsung is yet to officially confirm the specifications regarding the upcoming J8 smartphones.

In fact, the Galaxy J8 Plus was not even mentioned in the upcoming Samsung devices list, which appeared on the Samsung official site last month. Though the recent listings on Geekbench confirm that the manufacturer is testing the phones, and the smartphone is under works with the prototype ready.

The Future Of Samsung Smartphones

Samsung is working to remodel its operations in India, and the company wants to take back its lost crown in the Indian market. With an all-new smartphone India-focused smartphone series coming soon, the J8 duo might make it to India by the second quarter.

The Galaxy J series has worked wonders for Samsung in India, and the J7 smartphones were some of the best-selling Samsung smartphones in the country. With Galaxy J8 and Galaxy J8 Plus, the company can possibly repeat its success mantra in India to regain some of its lost market share.

The market already has some better-specced smartphones at competitive price points. Samsung needs to price its Galaxy J8 duo strategically.

Let’s see what Samsung brings to the country, and how well it copes with the Chinese competition in the Indian market.
