China’s social media site Weibo has thrown up an AnTuTu listing of a mysterious smartphone with the codename Blackshark.

Recently Xiaomi has invested in a new venture called Blackshark, and as per the portal’s Weibo account, its a smartphone maker. So the gaming smartphone maker could be a new Xiaomi sub-brand. China’s social media site Weibo has thrown up an AnTuTu listing of a mysterious smartphone with the codename Blackshark. There are speculations that it is a high-end device from Xioami, possibly even the Mi 7!

The Razer Phone remains the only gamer-centric smartphone in the market currently. If it indeed releases, the Blackshark is going to be the very first gaming smartphone from the Xiaomi gaming sub-brand of the same name.

As per the AnTuTu listing, the Xiaomi Blackshark will get powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset, the octa-core Snapdragon 845, coupled with 8GB of RAM. The listing has also revealed the key details of the upcoming Xiaomi Blackshark smartphone.

Xiaomi Blackshark will feature an 18:9 widescreen ratio, Full HD+ display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and will be running latest Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. The device will pair the Snapdragon 845 with Adreno 630 GPU, and 8GB of RAM with 32GB of onboard storage.

Earlier reports had suggested that the Xiaomi Blackshark will flaunt an aviation-class cooling system and will sport an integrated DSP (Digital Signal Processor), programmed for a specific purpose.

The Blackshark from Xiaomi managed to score a whopping 270,680 in the AnTuTu benchmark which is higher than the scores achieved by the other Snapdragon 845 powered devices, like the Galaxy S9 Plus.

When we talk Antutu, Apple is the king. No current Android processor has been able to comfortably cross the 200,000 mark, until now. Xiaomi Blackshark has beaten Samsung Galaxy S9’s score of 265,267 quite easily.

Xiaomi Vs Razer – The Gaming Smartphone King?

Reports suggest that Xiaomi will put up the Blackshark against the likes of Razer. Last year, the popular gaming laptop brand, Razer ventured into the world of smartphones and launched the famous gamer-centric Razer Phone with high-end internals. Xiaomi is reportedly looking to grab some attention in the gaming smartphone segment, though nothing is official as of now.

Now that the scores are out, the Blackshark with Snapdragon 845, 8GB RAM and all the high-end internals, it can give the Razer Phone a run for its money.  

At the moment there’s no official word as to when the Xiaomi Blackshark will get to see the light of the day, but on the other side, Xiaomi is gearing up for the upcoming launch of its bezel-less flagship Mi MIX 2S.
