Airtel Partners With Nokia For Affordable 4G Smartphones Bundle!

After Jio announced its exclusive Rs. 2,200 cashback for 4G smartphones for 22 brands under its JioFootball offer, Airtel today has announced a partnership with Nokia’s sole licensee, HMD Global, to offer Nokia 4G smartphones at affordable prices.

Bharti Airtel had launched its Mera Pehla Smartphone initiative last year to make budget smartphones more affordable and thus, available to a wide number of users. Airtel has now added Nokia 2 and Nokia 3 to this offer and has made them available with a discount of Rs 2,000/-, bundled with cashbacks from the telecom operator for both the smartphones.

Airtel’s partnership with HMD Global is Airtel’s sixth collaboration under its Mera Pehla Smartphone initiative, which is aimed at bringing affordable smartphones to the market. Previously the company has partnered with multiple smartphone brands like Karbonn, Lava, Celkon, Intex and Samsung to offer low-cost 4G smartphones.

Affordable 4G Smartphones Bundle: Cashback & Effective Prices

The cashback offer from Airtel would be given to customers in two instalments over a period of 3 years or 36 months. A customer has to make a minimum of Airtel prepaid recharges worth Rs. 3,500/- within the period of 18 months to be eligible for the first cashback instalment from Airtel of Rs 500/-.

Similarly, the customer has to do another set of recharges worth Rs. 3,500/- over the next period of 18 months to be eligible for the second instalment of Rs  1,500/-.

Nokia 3 is available in the market at Rs. 9,499/- and Nokia 2 is priced at Rs. 6,999/-. So after the cashback from Airtel, Nokia 3 will be available at an effective price of Rs. 7,499 and Nokia 2 will cost Rs. 4,999/-.

Minimum Recharge & Tariffs

Under the ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative, Nokia 2 and Nokia 3 will be available to Airtel customers with cashbacks from Airtel over a period of three years. But, users need to do keep on recharging their smartphones with a minimum recharge pack every month for the entire period of three years to be eligible for cashback from Airtel.

Both the smartphones will come bundled with special recharge pack of Rs. 169/-, which will offer 1GB of 4G data per day, 100 SMS (local and STD) per day and unlimited local and STD calling.

However, if a customer is not satisfied with the benefits offered by Rs. 169 plan, the user has the option to recharge with any plan as they like, but cumulatively the total minimum recharge should be more than Rs. 3500, to be eligible for the Airtel cashback.

Nokia 2 – Features & Specifications

Nokia 2 was launched by HMD Global in the last quarter of 2017 at Rs. 6,999/-. The device runs stock Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, and is already in line to receive the latest Android 8.1 Oreo update directly. Nokia 2 packs a massive 4000mAh battery and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 chipset under hood, coupled with 1GB RAM.

The device has 8GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded. The Nokia 2 is presently available online as well as at offline stores.

Nokia 3 – Features & Specifications

The Nokia 3 was the first HMD Global Nokia smartphone to be launched in India. Nokia 3 comes with a 5 inch HD display and a MediaTek MT6737 chipset under the hood, coupled with 2GB of RAM. The device come with 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded. Nokia 3 runs stock Android 7.0 Nougat out the of the box, but will be getting the Android 8.0 Oreo update soon.

The device is powered by a 2630 mAh battery with a 8MP autofocus camera at the back and front. Nokia 3 is available online as well as offline.
