The on-going World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos, Switzerland is all set to become a landmark event in the progression and development of the global workforce.
In an unprecedented move seldom witnessed, some of the largest and biggest IT firms have joined forces to reskill 1 million workers, all over the world, and update them with latest IT skills in order to bridge the gap between jobs and available skill sets.
In a related news, Reliance Industries has joined the 4th Industrial Revolution, which will trigger new employment opportunities, all over India. This too has been planned and announced under WEF.
TCS, Infosys Join Global IT Firms For ReSkilling Workers
In a first of its kind initiative, some of the largest global IT firms have joined forces under World Economic Forum SkillSET portal for reskilling and re-training 10 lakh (1 million) workers all over the world.
From India, Infosys and TCS have agreed to join this massive collaboration, which includes companies Accenture, CA Technologies, Cisco, Cognizant, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Pegasystems, PwC, Salesforce and SAP.
Under the Chairmanship of Chuck Robbins, who is the chairman and chief executive officer of Cisco, this IT Industry Skills Initiative was launched at the ongoing World Economic Forum.
Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman, World Economic Forum said,
“This initiative is a clear example of industry leaders taking concerted, collective action to address a major social challenge at scale.”
World Economic Forum SkillSET portal will launch in April, 2018, and initially target US workers, wherein they can reskill themselves with the most updated, cutting edge technology, and empower themselves with the contemporary knowledge which is required for meeting burgeoning job demand.
As per WEF, one in four adults mismatch the skills they have, and the skills which is required by companies, across all sectors.
Reliance Triggers 4th Industrial Revolution in India
Meanwhile India’s largest corporate behemoth, Reliance Industries, have joined the 4th Industrial Revolution unleashed at World Economic Forum, and have declared to partner with them for their launch in India.
WEF has already established the Centre for Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) in Silicon Valley, wherein IT employees would be skilled in emerging technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, robotics and more.
Now, in order to expand the same to India, WEF has partnered with Reliance Industries,for establishing a new C4IR in Mumbai.
This new setup would be in partnership with Govt. of India, Reliance Industries and WEF.
C4IR would act as a Sister Center to the World Economic Forum Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in San Francisco.
