OnePlus is on a handset releasing spree! 3 flagships in 6 months! This has to be some kind of a record. The OnePlus 5 released around June this year and the OnePlus 5T came out just last month. The release of the OnePlus 5T so early after the last flagship miffed OnePlus 5 owners as their latest and greatest was rendered obsolete. But, the OnePlus 5T was an iterative update over the OnePlus 5, which is still an excellent smartphone.
Yesterday they released the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition and immediately made it available for sale exclusively on Amazon. OnePlus has tied up with Disney and have timed the release of the smartphone to coincide with the release of the latest film in the franchise Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It is a double treat for Star Wars and OnePlus fans rolled into one great package.
OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition: What’s Different?
If you are a regular person, you’ll see no apparent difference except the colour. If you are a Star Wars fan, you are in for a treat. First of all, the black front with the white back gives it a Stormtrooper look. The red alert slider stands out and gives it a dash of colour. It is available in only one colour, white.
But the back is not smooth like the 5T. It is textured and can be best described as White Sandstone. It mimics the salt-covered surface of the planet Crait, featured in the film. That is a nice touch indeed! But only a true Star Wars fan will get the reference.
Besides the usual camera, fingerprint scanner and the OnePlus logo at the back, there’s a red Star Wars logo featured at the bottom, making it stand out even more.
On the inside, the software and features are the same as the regular 5T. OnePlus has included Star Wars themed wallpapers and a special dark Star Wars theme made up of red, black and white colours.
So, Should You Buy One?
OnePlus has priced the phone extremely aggressively! There’s only one variant of this phone available, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage. It is priced at Rs. 37,999/- which is only Rs. 1,000/- more than the regular variant with same specifications. You can buy it now exclusively on Amazon.
If you are a regular person who wants the the maximum value for money, then you can skip this one. You won’t be missing out on performance. There are absolutely no differences in specifications between the regular variant and the Star Wars Limited Edition.
If you are a die-hard Star Wars fan, yes, you should definitely buy it.
If you are a person who loves limited edition stuff, you should definitely buy it.
