Alia Bhatt, BB Ki Vines, Ed Sheeran Feature In Most Viewed YouTube India Videos in 2017!

In March this year, YouTube India breached the 18 crore mobile viewers mark, which is stunning to say the least. With easy & affordable access to the Internet, explosion of smartphone sales and growing digital awareness, more and more people are switching to Youtube for entertaining and educating themselves.

Last year, more than 500 content creators crossed 1 lakh subscribers mark, and their reach and presence is expanding at an incredible pace. More than a billion user on YouTube watch 1 billion+ hours of video, every day.

It is indeed fascinating to know which videos were most watched in India, as it gives us a pulse of the nation – we understand which type of content is popular, and how content creators are cashing in the craze.

Youtube has released their list of most watched videos globally, as well in India, and here are the highlights:

Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan Smash Records On YouTube India!

Badrinath Ki Dulhania, which was produced by Karan Johar, was one of the top grossing movies of 2017 having churned out collections of Rs 120 crore, has smashed some records on Youtube India as well.

Under their ‘Top Trending Music Videos’ category, two songs from this movie feature in #1 and #2 spots: title song of Badrinath Ki Dulhania is at #1 with 320 million views, and remix of ‘Tamma Tamma Again’ is at #2 with 206 million views.

Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa’s song ‘High Rated Gabru’ is at #3 with 189 million views.

At the same, BB ki Vines channel also made some mark in the list. Under Youtube India’s ‘Top Trending Videos of 2017’, BB ki Vines is at #1 with 19 million views, meanwhile Jimikki Kammal dance performance by Indian School of Commerce is at #2 with 19 million views.

Interestingly, English singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer Ed Sheeran has created some ripples in India as well, because his song Shape Of You was the third most viewed video in India this year.

Music Streaming Service From YouTube?

Meanwhile, confirmed reports are emerging, according to which Youtube will soon launch a music streaming service called Remix. This would directly compete against the likes of Spotify and Apple Music.

As per The Sun, Warner Music Group has already partnered with Youtube for providing content for this service, meanwhile Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group will soon follow suit.

Some analysts are claiming that this new service would be a combination of Youtube Red and Google Play Music service.

Youtube hasn’t confirmed this development yet. We will keep you updated.
