Honor 7X Vs. Mi A1 Vs. Moto G5S Plus – Mid Range Dual-Camera

The 6X successor will come with an all metal build, a dual camera setup at the back, a powerful processor and most importantly, the expansive bezel-less 18:9 display, which both Mi A1 and Moto G5S miss out on.

Design

All the three phones, Honor 7X, Xiaomi Mi A1 and Moto G5S Plus offer a good quality metal build. The Honor 7X and Mi A1 feature a flat build, whereas the Moto G5S Plus sports curved edges on the sides.

Display

This is the big differentiator. The Honor 7X will come with a 5.93 inch full HD+ bezel-less display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It will be topped with a 2.5D curved glass. On the other hand, both Xiaomi Mi A1 and Moto G5S Plus feature a 5.5 inch Full HD IPS LCD with Corning Gorilla Glass on top. The Honor 7X looks like a winner, at least on paper.

Hardware

The Honor 7X will be powered by an octa-core Kirin 659 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM. In comparison, Xiaomi Mi A1 and Moto G5S Plus are both powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM.

Storage

Honor 7X will offer two storage options of 32GB and 64GB internal storage, which can be further expanded using an external memory card. Both, Xiaomi Mi A1 and Moto G5S Plus are available with only a 64GB option of internal storage, which can be further expanded with an external memory card.

Software

On the software front, Honor 7X will run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with EMUI 5.1 on top. Whereas, both Xiaomi Mi A1 and Moto G5S Plus both run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box offering stock Android experience. Mi A1 is a part of Google’s Android One program. It has a distinct advantage when it comes to assured timely updates.

Camera

All the three smartphones feature a dual camera setup at the rear.  Honor 7X has a combination of 16 megapixel and 2 megapixel sensors with an 8 megapixel snapper at the front. Xiaomi Mi A1 sports a dual camera setup of a 12 megapixel wide angle lens and a 12 megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom support and has a 5 megapixel shooter at the front. The Moto G5S Plus comes with a pair of 13 megapixel sensors (RGB+Monochrome) and an 8 megapixel shooter at the front with selfie flash.

In good lighting conditions, all three cameras perform really well. But for selfies and low light images, Moto G5S Plus has an edge. The Mi A1 proves to be a better camera for portrait shots.
