Micromax Bharat 5 Launch

It’s only been a day since Xiaomi’s much-anticipated Desh ka Smartphone, the Redmi 5A has launched, and it seems like the entry level smartphone has a perfect competitor entering the market today.

Homegrown smartphone manufacturer Micromax is all geared up to unveil Micromax Bharat 5 today, which will be a successor to the Micromax Bharat 4.

The company has launched a series of entry-level Bharat phones in the past few months which includes the Bharat 3, Bharat 4 and the Jio Phone rival Bharat 1, in collaboration with BSNL and Bharat 2 Ultra, in collaboration with Vodafone.

Micromax Bharat 5; The Perfect Redmi 5A Competitor?

The upcoming Bharat 5 will come with a dual camera setup and a massive 5,000mAh battery at a budget price.

The Bharat 4 came with a 5 inch 720p HD display and a MediaTek MT6737 chipset paired with 1GB of RAM. It included a 5 megapixel rear camera with a 5 megapixel selfie-shooter and supported dual SIMs with 4G VoLTE. It packed in a 2,500mAh removable battery. It ran Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box and was launched at Rs. 4,999/-.

Xiaomi yesterday unveiled their much-hyped Redmi 5A in India with some top-of-the-line features packed in an ultra-affordable smartphone.

If Micromax can offer the Bharat 5 with better hardware and display at a price of around Rs. 5000-7000/-, then it can give the Redmi 5A a run for its money in the budget segment.

The Redmi 5A comes with a 3000mAh battery and the company has claimed a whooping 8 day standby time on a single charge. The 2GB + 16GB variant of the 5A has been priced at Rs. 5,999/-. But, the first 50 lakh handsets will be available at Rs. 4,999/-. The 3GB + 32GB variant of the 5A will be available at Rs. 6,999/-.

Eagerly Awaited

Micromax has sent out media invites. The front and back panels of the upcoming Bharat 5 can be seen in the images shared on their social media handles. The front side has capacitive navigation keys below the display. The earpiece and the front camera sit above the display. On the back it sports a dual camera flanked by an LED flash.

Before it lost out to its Chinese competitors, Micromax was among the top smartphone manufacturers in the country.

With the launch of Redmi 5A, the competition in the budget segment has heated up, and incidentally the budget segment constitutes for the major smartphone market in India. If Micromax has equipped the Bharat 5 well, they might just turn the tables on Xiaomi and turn their luck around.
