Airtel’s ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ Launching Karbonn A1 Indian & A41 Power!

Airtel has been consistently releasing affordable smartphones in the market under their ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative. This initiative is aimed at enabling every Indian to be able to buy a 4G smartphone They tie up with local smartphone manufacturers to bring out affordable, bundled smartphones.

In their second such tie-up with Karbonn, Airtel is coming up with 2 new bundled smartphones, the Karbonn ‘A1 Indian’ and Karbonn ‘A41 Power’.

While their first bundled smartphone, the Karbonn A40 Indian is now available on Amazon, the two new ones will be available on Amazon starting next week.

Airtel’s Mera Pehla Smartphone Initiative

Airtel is looking to achieve dual goals with this initiative of theirs. First one is getting a 4G smartphone to maximum number of people by making them affordable. Also, their tie-ups with local manufacturers for these bundled phones, gives an impetus to local manufacturing.

Speaking at the occasion, Raj Pudipeddi, Director – Consumer Business & CMO, Bharti Airtel said,

Karbonn A1 Indian & A41 Power: Bundled Pricing

The ‘A1 Indian’ 4G smartphone will be available at an effective price of Rs 1,799/- against MRP of Rs 4,390/- and the ‘A41 Power’ comes at an effective price of Rs 1,849/- against an MRP of Rs 4,290/-.

• The customer needs to make a down payment of Rs 3,299/- for the ‘A1 Indian’ 4G smartphone,
• The downpayment on the  ‘A41 Power’ 4G smartphone is Rs 3,349/-.
• After buying either of the phones, the customers need to make 36 continuous monthly recharges of Rs 169/- pack from Airtel.
• They will get a cash refund of Rs 500/- after 18 months and another Rs 1,000/- after 36 months, taking the total cash benefit to Rs 1,500/-.
• In case the customer does not wish to opt for the Rs 169/- bundled plan, they can do recharges of any denomination and validity as per individual requirements.
• However, to claim the cash refund benefit, recharges worth Rs 3,000/- must be done within the first 18 months (to claim the first refund installment of Rs 500/-) and another Rs 3,000/- over the next 18 months (to claim the second refund installment of Rs 1,000/-).
• The ownership of the smartphone remains completely with the customer and there is no need to return the device to Airtel/Karbonn at any point to claim the cash benefit.
