Design And Build

Moto X4 will sport an anodized aluminium frame coupled with a glass build on the outside. It has a circular camera bump at the back which is reminiscent of the Moto G5S Plus. The fingerprint sensor is integrated into the home button. The phone is 8 mm thin, if you ignore the protruding camera bump.

Display

The device will feature a 5.2 inch, Full HD IPS LCD display. The screen resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels, with a pixel density of 424 ppi. It will carry Corning Gorilla Glass on top for protection against scratches.

Hardware

The device will be powered by a 2.2 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset, coupled with Adreno 508 GPU. The 3GB or 4GB of RAM ensures seamless multitasking.

Software

The device will run Android 7.1.1 out of the box to offer a near-stock Android experience with only a few Motorola apps preloaded. Motorola has confirmed an Android Oreo update by February next year.

The device will feature an onboard storage of 32GB or 64GB which can be further further expanded up to 2TB with an external memory card.

Up front, it has a 16 MP selfie-shooter with an f/2.0 aperture, supported by an LED flash.

Connectivity

On the connectivity front, it supports Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, GPS with all the usual sensors on board. It has a USB Type-C port with an increasingly-rare 3.5 mm audio jack at the bottom.

Waterproofing

The device features IP68 certification . It can survive in up to 1.5 metres of water for up to 30 minutes. IP68 also affords it protection against dust getting in.

Battery

It packs in a 3,000mAh battery, with support for quick charge technology. It claims to give a battery backup of six hours with just 15 minutes of charging.

Google Assistant And Amazon Alexa

The Moto X4 users will get the option to choose either of Google assistant or Alexa, Amazon’s exclusive voice assistant. Motorola have claimed that these voice assistants will support Indian languages for voice commands. However, Alexa won’t be available until Amazon releases the Alexa app in India.
