What more damage will Jio’s ‘free’ offers do?

Free Home Delivery Of Jio SIM Cards Across 600 Cities

In a first for the telecom industry, Reliance Jio has decided to offer free home delivery of their SIM Cards, across 600 Indian cities.

This offer can be easily availed via Jio’s official website, where a mini-portal has been created for the same.

Mainly, any user can order free home delivery of Jio SIM Cards in three steps:

Jio Sucked Away 11.7% Revenues Of Telecom Firms

Even as Jio is attempting to further penetrate the market via free home delivery of SIM Cards, a recent report by Jefferies has claimed that Jio has sucked away 11.7% of the overall revenues of telecom companies, via their free offers.

The report said, “Reliance Jio effect was also evident in the decline being maximum in metro and A circles where Reliance Jio has a higher penetration, and where the smartphone ecosystem is better developed,”

As per the findings of the report, Jio’s subscriber base has now reached 108 million by the end of Q4 of 2016, and 80 million of them are active users. The report analysed that the top three telecom companies are now commanding 76% of the revenues generated by the industry, and that the Indian market will “remain a five-player market at best, with three equally strong competitors (Bharti, Voda-Idea combined and Jio) being as bad for incumbents as a fragmented market at present.”

Recently, another report by The Internet Trends Report 2017 by Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers (KPCB) stated that due to Jio’s massive presence, and disruptive nature, the cost of per GB data has reduced by 50%, all over the country within a year.
