Jio SIM Cards Preview Welcome Offer

Reliance Jio has now partnered with Paytm for enabling its subscribers to recharge their Jio numbers using the Paytm platform.

Jio users could recharge their mobile numbers only via Jio.com or MyJio app until now. But today onwards, they would be able to do Jio recharges via Paytm mobile wallet and enjoy a host of benefits offered by Paytm from time to time while recharging their number.

Jio servers crashed on 1st March, the first day to enrol for Jio Prime, due to heavy load as millions of Jio users were trying to subscribe to Jio Prime membership. This incidence revealed the need for other payment options for recharging Jio numbers, and as a result, the company has now tied up the leading mobile wallet provider in the country.

List of Jio Packs Available For Recharge Via Paytm

Paytm currently supports recharges for Jio Prime and non-prime plans. You can also use it to subscribe to Jio Prime membership, valid for 1 year, by paying Rs.99.

However, it doesn’t support any Top Up, and full talk time plans at the moment.

Rs. 499 Prime & Non-Prime Plan

Using Paytm you can recharge your Jio number with Rs. 499 Prime and Non-Prime plans. Kindly note that Rs. 499 Prime plan offers the same benefits as under the current ‘Happy New Year Offer’ but with an increased daily FUP limit of 2 GB/day for 28 days.

On the other hand, Rs. 499 non-prime plan offers 5 GB data, 100 SMS/day, and unlimited voice calls for 28 days.

I could not find the highly coveted Rs. 303 plan on my Paytm account, but many others have reportedly subscribed to it via Paytm.

Data, SMS, and ISD Plans

Paytm will also allow you to recharge your Jio number with Rs. 51 data pack (1 GB, 1 day), and Rs. 301 internet pack (6 GB, 28 days).

You can also recharge your Jio number with Rs. 201 SMS pack offering Rs. 175.1 as SMS balance. Note that you will be charged at 85p/Local or National SMS, and Rs. 5/ISD SMS that you send while roaming in India.

If you wish to make ISD calls from your Jio number, then you can subscribe to Rs. 501 ISD calling pack using Paytm entitling you with Rs. 435.65 for making ISD calls while moving in India.

The Problem With Jio Prime

While we recommend you to enroll your Jio number into Jio Prime membership for getting attractive benefits throughout the year, we would also like to divert your attention to one creepy fact about getting Jio Prime subscription:

It is okay if you are planning to use your current Jio connection (the mobile number which is not as per your liking) just as a source of data connection, but if you wish to use it for making calls too but want a special mobile number too, then unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about it.

As of now, if you want a new Jio SIM, then the mobile number will be generated online and you will not get any options to choose from! This means that you will end up with a random number of any series.

Some people are also experiencing problems while porting their current number to Reliance Jio. So we would recommend that you make up your mind first before enrolling your Jio Prime membership. We do hope that Jio recognizes this problem and comes up with a solution before 31st March.
