Airtel is the first company in India to launch its payments bank, and Paytm is soon going to as well. Third in the line, India Post has received the payments bank license from the Reserve Bank of India(RBI) to start its commercial banking operations.
HDFC Bank has become 1st Bank to deploy robots or Humanoids to offer customer service. They have already removed 4,581 jobs across India, due to ‘improved efficiency’. As on December, 2017, HDFC reported 90,421 employees, which was 95,002 employees as of September 30, 2016.
Uber’s bike hailing service, UberMOTO, has made its way to the second city in India, Hyderabad. A few weeks back the company had dropped a hint of launching the service in the city of Nizams, and it has finally been launched today.
Led by COAI, private telecom operators (except Reliance Jio) have revolted against BSNL for re-launching limited fixed-mobile telephony, and allowing app-based calling services. Reserve Bank of India has removed such limits on cash withdrawals from ATM and bank counters.
