Amazon Launches 'Sell as Individual', a Platform for Selling Used Products

Within 3 years of it’s entry in India, Amazon India has already established themselves as leading eCommerce site in India. They now want to capture a pie in used goods category as well.

Taking a step ahead Amazon has just launched new service in India called Sell as Individual, which allows anyone to sell their used goods online on the platform. The service is currently been operated only in Bengaluru and will be expanded across other cities as well. With this service, you can sell products locally in your city through their website and Amazon will offer you doorstep pick-up, packing, and delivery of goods.

To sell a product, just go to the Sell as Individual page, and click on Start Selling button and fill in a small form, where you choose the category of the product, add a photo, price, and the pickup details. Though there is a city selector in a drop-down menu, Bengaluru is the only option in that menu for now.

Once you have made your listing, the product is listed on Amazon.in ( as used product ). Other customers can see your listing and make the purchase. If the product is been sold you will receive an email and schedule pickup time is allocated.

Amazon will collect, pack and ship the product to the buyer. In case, if the product is returned by the buyer, Amazon will ship it back to you, at no charge. Once the sale is completed, Amazon will transfer the money to you with a small fee deduction.

The charges seem pretty affordable – for items under Rs. 1000 the fee is Rs. 10, for up to Rs. 5,000 fee comes to Rs. 50, and for items of greater value, the fee is Rs. 100.

To promoted the service, Amazon is offering Rs. 1,000 as Amazon Pay balance, It is there own wallet from which you can you buy products listed on Amazon.

On Sell as Individual page, the FAQ, terms and conditions lead you to Junglee website. Junglee has been offering buying and selling of Refurbished, Used, Unboxed Mobiles, Books and more. Amazon had launched Junglee in 2012 before its entry into India, as a price comparison website that helped discover sites across different e-commerce platforms.

On Junglee too, there is now a banner ad for Sell as Individual, and the sell button in Junglee’s navigation takes you to the same sell page.

Although In 2014 Junglee and Quikr had partnered to show pre-owned product listings, but now it seems that company is now moving its business into Amazon, there has been so such official confirmation from Amazon.
