Microsoft Announces Surface Studio Starting $2,999 - World’s Thinnest AIO PC!

Tackling the increasing competitions in the AIO (All-In-One) PC industry and from the Apple iMac series, Microsoft has announced Surface Studio PC starting from $2,999.

What’s Different About ‘Surface Studio’?

Given the price tag of the Surface Studio range, one has to wonder what makes this computer worth it. The answer lies in its elegant design, massive 28-inch 4500 x 3000 pixels display supporting Adobe sRGB and DCI-P3 and Vivid Color Profiles, its ability to swivel, and its performance.

Remember, the Surface Studio is targeted at the creative minds and artists. So if you are a gamer looking for your next gaming rig, then this won’t be your best fit.

The Surface Studio ships with a Surface Pen, and an updated Sculpt Mouse and Keyboard. However, the Surface Dial (accessory) that you can buy for another $99, can be used to augment the mouse and keyboard and makes working on the Surface Studio a really cool experience.

Microsoft Surface Studio Specifications

The Surface Studio PC range would be available in 3 variants differing in RAM, processing power, and the storage space.

The entry level Surface Studio costs $2,999 and packs a 6th Gen. Intel Core i5 CPU, Nvidia GeForce GTX 965M GPU having 2 GB GDDR5 VRAM, 8 GB RAM, and 1 or 2TB hybrid drive.

The $3,499 model packs 6th Gen. Intel Core i7, Nvidia GeForce GTX 965M GPU with 2 GB GDDR5 VRAM, 16 GB RAM, and 1 or 2 TB hybrid drive.

The top-end $4,199 model supports 6th Gen. Core i7 CPU, 32 GB RAM, 4GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M GPU, and hybrid storage option of either 1 TB or 2 TB.

Besides the above mentioned specs, all the 3 models in the Surface Studio lineup offer the same hardware which is:

  • Display– 28-inch, 4500 x 3000 pixels, PixelSense Display supporting Adobe sRGB, DCI-P3 and Vivid Color Profiles, and support for 10-point multi-touch.
  • CPU – Quad-core 6th gen. Intel Core i5 or i7

  • Storage – Rapid Hybrid Drive, 1 TB or 2 TB
  • RAM – 8/16/32 GB
  • Connectivity – Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, BT 4.0, Xbox Wireless, 4xUSB 3.0 ports, full-size SD card reader, Mini DisplayPort, gigabit Ethernet
  • Camera – 5.0 MP, 1080p video recording, Windows Hello2 face sign-in
  • Audio – Dual mic, Stereo 2.1 speakers with Dolby Audio Premium, 3.5 mm audio jack
  • Dimensions– Display: 25.09 x 17.27 x 0.44 in (637.35 x 438.90 x 11.4 mm)

The Surface Studio range is all about creativity with a focus on 3D design as seen in the demo video. The Surface Studio will ship with Windows 10 Creators update right out of the box which includes the revamped Paint- Paint 3D.

Availability

The Surface Studio would start shipping in early 2017. If you can’t wait to get your hands on it then pre-order it right now.

There is no word on the India launch of Surface Studio at the moment, but we will keep you posted as and when more information surfaces.
