Amazon Launches Global Store in India; Allows Indians to Purchase Products From Foreign Sellers
Currently, Amazon India only sells products on their marketplace from Indian sellers only. Although, Amazon has sellers across the world on their other country websites, Indian users cannot purchase products from them. However, soon customers will be able to purchase products from other countries and have them delivered to their home.
Amazon’s Global Store has been launched in India and this gives us the opportunity to order any product of choice from Amazon stores in other countries. Obviously, this will depend on whether the seller is ready to ship the product to India or not.
This makes the whole process of ordering from other countries a lot more reliable. There were means to do that right now, but then your order might get stuck with customs and could get delayed. Amazon Global Store promises delivery in 10 to 15 days from shipping. Amazon also provides the import fee deposit during checkout and customs clearance on your behalf.
Global Store will also provide end-to-end tracking of shipment and notifications on all orders. Of course, not all products will ship to India, but you’re lucky if you get the ones of your choice.
How to check if the seller delivers to India?
At the time you’re picking up the size, or just going to add the product to cart, select the delivery address and pick India from the drop down list. The message shown after that will indicate if Amazon from another country will ship the product to India.
If not this, then there will be a ‘global store’ flag next to items that can be shipped by sellers from US to India. These products will be sure shot delivered to your choice of address.
Various products under categories like Clothing and Accessories, Watches, Shoes, Books, Electronics, Home and Kitchen, Sports & Fitness and Office Supplies will be applicable to this program.
When you purchase items being shipped from the USA through Global Store, the designated carriers deliver the item to your delivery address. Due to government regulations, the carriers are required to collect your ID proof before they can deliver the items to you.
How convenient is Global Store service?
If you are not satisfied with the product you ordered, returning imported items is easy with the Global Store returns process. Simply use the Online Return Center to process the return and mail it back to Amazon.
In terms of pricing, you pay for items sold through Global Store in your local currency. You can purchase Global Store products through all electronic payment methods (Credit/Debit Cards and Net Banking). Prices for Global Store products are comparable to the prices on the Amazon.com, taking into account the latest exchange rate, import fees deposit and shipping costs.
On import fees, Amazon says, “If the actual Import Fees are less than the Import Fees Deposit collected by us on your behalf, you’ll automatically be refunded the difference to the payment method you used for the order. You’ll receive a notification e-mail confirming the amount of the refund. The process takes 60 days from the shipment date.”
