October is here and it is that time of the year again when e-commerce giants battle it out with exciting offers for customers. It has always been Amazon India vs. Flipkart vs. Snapdeal, and it will be the same this year.

Flipkart calls its Big Billion Day, that sees huge price drops in some categories and some neat discounts in other categories. Amazon India calls it Great Indian Sale that has lightening deals and will have Prime deals from this year onwards. Snapdeal’s Unbox Diwali Sale is not a match to the above two but comes quite close in terms of order volumes.

Sale Days on Every e-commerce

Amazon will begin the Great Indian Sale on October 1 and end it on October 5. On the other hand, Flipkart’s Big Billion Day and Snapdeal’s Diwali Sale will begin on October 2 and end on October 6, a day after Amazon’s sales.

Amazon India clearly has an upper hand in this case, since most of the customers will flock to Amazon’s website for huge discounts and offers. However, Big Billion Day is known to offer similar discounts and those who are not able to get their product on Amazon might switch over to Flipkart and Snapdeal.

Usually these companies have specific categories on sale on specific days, and the last day is reserved for higher discounts and more expensive products. For example, Flipkart will open fashion, home, TV and appliances on 2nd October, mobiles and accessories on 3rd October, electronics on 4th October and all categories from 5th onwards.

Snapdeal has a different system that is equally enticing – they offer every minute and hourly deals on their app and desktop and the range is from every category and every price point. Amazon India offers lightening deals that usually go out in 24 hours or until the stocks last.

Sneak peek into offers

Flipkart has given a sneak peek into the types of discounts it is offering, for example a few clothing brands will have upto 50% off, some products will have upto 95% discounts but for a limited time period. Some electronics have an absolute amount off their MRP and this might equate to a 20-40% discount.

Amazon can clearly given the volume of discounts it is going to offer – upto 30% off on microwaves, 60% off on furniture, 30% off on home decor and heavy discounts on electronics, the most selling category on Amazon India.

Snapdeal also has its main focus on electronics, and the hourly deals will have a set number of smartphones and gadget on discounts. Fashion is another top priority for the company and some clothing brands will have huge offers and bargains.

Additionally, all these e-commerce giants have tied-up with credit card issuers to offer further discounts. Flipkart will offer 10% flat discount on SBI cards, no cost EMI and exchange offers. Amazon will offer 10% discount on website, 15% on app for HDFC card holders.

Snapdeal has tied-up with Citibank to offer instant 20% discount on debit and credit cards. While these discounts are capped at a certain amount, they have represent a huge proportion of your purchases and can provide a really good deal.

All the deals will begin at 12:00 AM midnight and you should be there on Amazon India first to experience the madness. Amazon India has beat Flipkart second time in a row in terms of revenue, while Flipkart is banking on the Big Billion Days for some respite.

If you’re planning to buy something right now, hold the thought for another 3-4 days and get that product during these sales, you will get a much much better deal. Other e-commerce companies are also gearing up for this sale but the scale of these three leaders is way above that of the others.
