Reliance Jio 4G Now Available Without Invite For a Beta Launch

Finally, after nearly 6 months of official Reliance Jio 4G LTE service launch which was made open only to Reliance Employees, the 4G network will now be available to the common man too. Last month, Reliance had soft launched the product via an invite system through employees.

4G sim cards will finally be available to select users who register for the service on the website. The service was only available to employees till last month, following an invite system to test out the services. Reliance claims to have 5,00,000 users on-board for testing the service in different parts of the country.

Users in bigger cities in India only can register for the service, which means Reliance doesn’t have enough infrastructure in place for smaller cities and towns.

Anshuman Thakur, Head of Strategy and Planning at Jio, said, “As it needs a lot of optimization, which will lead to some disturbances in services, we want to ensure that once commercially launched the service is seamless,” he had said.

Reliance Jio 4G prices are cheaper as compared to other biggies like Airtel and Vodafone and have been known to provide good speeds in real-time scenarios. This is one of the few positives going for Reliance Jio, which otherwise seems to have become a lesser talked about topic now.

The operations are expected to be scaled up to every part of the country by the end of this year. So while other telcos are launching 4G services in every nook and corner of the country, Reliance is taking a different path to ensure least gaps in implementation.

How to register for Jio 4G service?

Reliance Jio had also launched a website Jio.com for registration purposes and for people to get to know more about LTE network from Reliance.

Clicking on ‘learn more’ on Connect’s main page will lead you to a form asking you to register interest. Reliance has not yet confirmed if anyone from the company will be getting back to the individual for more information about the process.

Unfortunately, there is no other shortcut to get a Jio sim card other than registration on website or an invite from a Reliance employee. A beta launch also doesn’t guarantee a sim card after registration, since only a few will be selected from bigger cities.

Full commercial launch is expected to be by the end of this year, and we think a lot of potential users will switch to another network by then. The delay is nerve-racking and we hope Reliance Jio takes it very seriously before announcing another mini-launch.
