Ola Money and Oyo Rooms have partnered to enable cashless hotel bookings via Ola’s money wallet.

This can be described as one of the most sensible diversification route taken by Ola Money. After booking an online ticket and hailing a cab, hotel booking is the most sought after service by tourists and travelers on the Internet. And Ola has now ensured that atleast two of these activities can be done using their mobile wallet.

In fact, not only hotel rooms, but customers will be very soon able to listen music via Saavn app and buy glass frames using Lenskart as further partnerships with ecommerce portals are in the process of formation.

Ola Money, which has around 20 million registered users, is now India’s 3rd biggest mobile wallet and the best part is the average size of a wallet, which is Rs 1000 as per Ola’s statement (Paytm’s average wallet size is Rs 150). Hence, with such a strong volume and high quality of wallet users, Ola is now aiming for more market share within mobile wallet niche in India.

Interestingly, Oyo Rooms and Paytm has already partnered for cashless payments on Oyo Rooms app. Hence, Oyo customers will now get two options for making the payment. On the other hand, both Ola and OYO are backed by Softbank and Sequoia; which makes this partnership more natural than ever.

Although Ola Money is right now powered with PayU and ZipCash’s payment processing platform, but they may very soon launch their own payment mechanism to power the ever expanding base of Ola Money.

Rushil Goel, Head of Ola Money said, “Ola Money was built to create a seamless payment experience for every request on our platform and is the most preferred mode of payment by a majority of our users today… We are excited to introduce Ola Money in its new avatar to our users and welcome leading merchants who want to benefit from this solution.”

India born Ola is now doing everything possible to thwart the threat of multi-billion dollar Uber which can disrupt the industry on it’s power of valuation and investment.

In terms of diversification, Ola is now providing hyperlocal services such as on-demand grocery delivery with Ola Store, along with food delivery via Ola Café. Recently, they introduced Ola Select, an exclusive privilege service for high spending customers. Even bus bookings can be made using Ola app very soon.

To lure better and more drivers, Ola has even launched incentives program which include 2 BHK flats as awards.
