India’s leading cab services provider Meru Cabs which partnered with Citrus Wallet last year for e-wallet payments, has now tied up with Paytm and MobiKwik digital wallet services for letting its customers pay via any wallet of their choice.

With this move, Meru Cabs has become the first cab service provider to offer 3 e-wallet payment options to its customers. These digital wallets will let the travelers pay for their trip without any cash.

Meru Cabs also offers zero-click checkout system integrated within its cab services which debits the fare from the associated mobile wallet of the customers automatically. This would enable the customers to book a cab and reach their destinations as quickly as possible as now they won’t have to waste even a single second for making the payment manually after the cab ride.

Meru Cabs also supports payment via hard cash along with popular wallet services like Citrus, Paytm, and MobiKwik. Meru Cabs has already integrated the new wallets into its mobile app and is available for Android devices, iPhones, Windows Phones, and Blackberry phones.

According to a statement issued by Meru Cabs CEO Sidhartha Pahwa, Meru Cabs gets more than 70% of its revenue from mobile apps, and has digitized itself by offering unique features in its mobile app.

“The Meru Cabs app is the most convenient way to book a cab with just the press of a button. We are very excited to partner with Paytm and MobiKwik. Taxi services are high frequency transaction just like e-commerce and we believe in giving consumers the benefit of choice. Given our new partners dedication and track record, we thought it was perfect to team up with them for this venture. We know that this initiative will prove to be a huge success for all of us,” added Sidhartha Pahwa.

Talking about this Meru Cabs and MobiKwik tie up, Bipin Preet Singh, Founder & CEO at MobiKwik said, “Meru has been a trusted brand in the Indian cab-hire market since 2007 and we are excited to extend our wallet to all Meru users.”

“This is a great example of how we will connect over 17 Million MobiKwik users and thousands of Meru users to give a seamless experience of hailing a Meru and paying via MobiKwik; which is an easy, fast and safe way to transact,” he added.

How Does Cashless Payment System Works?

This cashless payment system is as simple as it sounds. All you have to do is load up any of the above mentioned wallets with money using your debit card, or credit card, or net banking account. You can then setup your favourite wallet for zero-click checkout and travel without the hassle of paying the fare at the end of the trip.

Paying via a specific mobile wallet for a specific cab service provider has always been a big issue for me. But now that Meru Cabs has come out with support for multiple mobile wallets, this issue would be a thing of the past.
