I have personally never seen such a craze for a phone in India. Moto g seem to have flown off Flipkart shelves. The sale started at midnight yesterday, and looks like within first few minutes all the phones were exhausted. Yes, the 16GB version was not available by 12:15, and 8GB was also sold out after some time!

Even when Micromax launched their first Canvas phone, we did not see such a frenzy!

Now, if you are one of those who missed buying earlier today, worry not. Phones will be arriving back in 3 hours from now (12 noon). But given the kind of interest in this phone, I see the stock getting over immediately. So, leave everything aside and keep refreshing your Moto g buying page at 12 noon today!

Moto G Price in India

In the US, unlocked vanilla Moto g phone without any customizations costs USD 179 for 8GB version and USD 199 for 16GB version. The price in India is expected to be higher given the taxes and duties levied here. In our view, with the kind of specifications Moto g boasts of, we assume the phone will be launched in the range of Rs. 17000 to Rs. 20000. Any price below Rs. 17k and Moto g becomes a must buy for anyone and everyone.

Samsung must be keenly awaiting this launch because if Moto g is priced competitively, it has potential to erode lot of their market share in mid-size smartphone segment.

So, if you have been eagerly waiting for this phone, head over to Flipkart’s microsite!

Update: Snapdeal has just sent us a press release stating that they have recorded 1000 pre-orders of the phone within first two hours of its launch on their platform. As of now,for both 8GB and 16GB phones, the listing shows “Sold Out”. I am not sure which other phone had such a demand in recent times!
