This infographic is not strictly Business or technology related, however, makes for a very interesting viewing.

We know the importance placed on weddings in India. Parents of Brides and Grooms generally don’t leave a stone unturned to make a it a success.

In comparison, countries like America don’t give such a big importance to weddings. Its also probably because nearly half of all marriages in America fail and compared to about 10% in India.

If you do a side by side comparison of weddings in India and America, it reveals how important weddings is for Indians.  Imagine, 8 out of 10 people take loans for weddings.

It is also quite interesting to note that in US, the wedding expenses reflect the Economy. However, in India, irrespective of where the economy is headed, weddings are getting more and more lavish.

I for one, do not believe in spending lavishly on wedding. It is better to do a court marriage and invest that money for future of the couple.

What’s your take…?

I completely agree with you, I dont have such stats but thats take of most guys (more than 50%) but I am sure more than 50% girls dont agree and same goes for parents because of society pressure. As it is said in movies – Indian marriage is not between boy and girl its between family so you dont have much say in it.
