Godaddy prioritizes India Business
Unlike most of the developed markets, India is still in its nascent stages when it comes to Internet growth. She has one of the lowest Internet penetration in the world and is looked upon as the next Internet growth market. Last year, one of the largest hosting providers in the world – Hostgator – made its debut in India.
Today, worlds largest provider of domain name registrations and web hosting announced that it has made India a priority market in its bid for global expansion. They have launched an India-centric domain registration & hosting site that will provide services to people in Indian sub-continent.
Godaddy has recruited Rajiv Sodhi as Managing Director of its India Operations – It is interesting to note that Rajiv is the first-ever international executive appointed in the history Go Daddy.
Primary goal of Godaddy to launch its India operations is to expand their footprint in India, hire locally and provide customer service in local language. India is expected to be Go Daddy’s largest international office by this year end.
Although, Godaddy plans to expand in India, there is no mention of setting up Indian Data centers, which probably is the need of the hour for Indians.
Currently, very few hosting companies have data centers located in India, which creates latency issues for sites which have primarily Indian audience. Currently Godaddy servers are located in US, Europe and Asia (in Singapore).
From consumer point of view, Godaddy’s India launch will help them to procure extremely competitive rates on domain registrations and web hosting in Indian rupees. Additionally, they will be provided with 24X7 Indian support as well.
