Pune Based startup YournextLeap.com has landed Series A investment from Nirvana Venture Advisors. The funding amount has not been disclosed. Amit Patni from Nirvana Venture Advisors (Patni Family backed) and Rajan Mehra (of Ebay India) will be joining Next Leap board.
NextLeap Funding has been on cards for couple of months now as we have been getting feelers about the same. However, we expected it to be a seed / angel funding and not a “series A” which they announced today.
This funding will primarily be used to reach out to more students and scaling their web infrastructure.
I had a brief chat with founders, but they did not disclose the funding amount citing “competitive” reasons!
About Your Next Leap
Yournextleap is a year old startup, having team of about 9 people currently. Both founders have bootstrapped with their own monies and have developed a fully functional recommendation engine, which could essentially be termed as a Online Career & Academic counsellor.
My initial impression of Next Leap was that, most of their users (students) were US / UK based, but now they seem to be concentrating more on increasing footprint in India rather than in US & UK.
Also, they have moved from being just a College University recommendation engine to being an end-to-end student academic & career counselling platform.
Your Next Leap Monetization Model
Your Next Leap works on the freemium model, wherein basic features are offered to students free of cost, while advanced features are paid-for!
Given the online payment issues that we have in India, Your Next Leap has done well by offering students facility to pay offline directly to their bank accounts, along with regular debit / credit card payments.
The founders expect to break-even in less than a year and initial feedback to platform from students have been quite encouraging. They already have 1000s of students who have used their platform – percentage of which are paid students as well.
If you are a student, give yournextleap a try and let us know how you find the platform!
