Two Startups events, Proto.in & Unpluggd, unfortunately on same day!

[Post updated with Agendas]

Its unfortunate that this has happened – Two  excellent Startup / Entrepreneurship events Proto and Unpluggd are being conducted on the same day in two different cities.

I have spoken to atleast 3 entrepreneurs who wanted to attend both the events, but will have to unfortunately skip one of them. India still has a relatively small Startup Ecosystem and events like Proto & Unpluggd are far and few. The biggest looser of this mis-scheduling are startup entrepreneurs who will miss out on insightful talks and networking.

startup events

I am not sure how this happened, but looks like during planning stages, organisers did not take in to account clash of similar event (it is probably one of the most important aspect that needs to be taken care of while scheduling).

I personally spoke to Ashish Sinha (of Unpluggd) and looks like he tried re-scheduling, but due to lack of venue on other dates he had to stick to the dates on Unpluggd.

Proto on the other hand was announced earlier and so for them change of dates was probably out of question.

Whatever the reasons and circumstances, this should not have happened!

UnPluggd Sessions

Inspirational Talks by Successful Entrepreneurs

Inspiring talks by entrepreneurs (people who-have-been-there-done-that-and-are-still-doing-it) who share their journey   in the most “UnPluggd format”. Earlier editions have witnessed entrepreneurs like Naveen Tewari (InMobi), Sachin Bansal (Flipkart), Alok Kejriwal (Games2Win), Manish (Printo), Phanindra Sama (redBus) etc. sharing their startup journey – the journey of rejection/failures and perseverance.

Demo Sessions

The selection panel will select the 10 most promising startups that get to demo their product at the event (across industries like Internet, Mobile, Enterprise, Cleantech etc). Last event witnessed more than 250 nominations, out of which 10 were selected to demo at the event. Given that this comes from Pluggd.in, India’s largest visibility platform for startups – expect some amazing startups.

So where are you headed to this Saturday?

  1. Hey Arun For us (i.e. Pluggd.in), July 9th was not really planned. we were planning for 23rd, but finding a good venue in Blore was a huge challenge (most of Bschools open up in the second week of July and aren't free till Sep). Given that UnPluggd is already delayed by 3 months (supposed to happen every 6 month), we decided to go ahead with what'er date/venue we had. Nevertheless, two events is a good sign and I wish proto team a huge success!

Ashish…yeah I am aware…I just hope that going forward, especially at planning stages, these things do not occur…we have hardly 2 or 3 quality events and it is not good for entrepreneurs who want to attend both and cannot attend it only because of date clash issues… Anyways, I hope unpluggd and proto both see huge success !

  5. Arun – Thanks for the coverage. The main agenda of Proto.in which starts at 9:30 PM though has been missed. This is the main part of the event :)
