Government Website gets Hacked….again!

10

There have been many previous examples of Indian Government operated and managed sites (by National Informatics Center [NIC]) getting hacked – and it has happened again.

According to Hacker News post http://informatics.nic.in/oldnewsonline/abc.html site has been hacked and defaced in support of fight against corruption.

We checked out Google Cache copy, and yes, the site had been compromised – Although it is showing “Page not found” error right now.

It seems like they were not able to deface the homepage, as the main informatics page cache copy looks ok. But the hackers seem to have added a new page called abc.html and put out their message, which reads

Greetings!
.We exist without nationality..We exist with humanity.
.NIC took 3 mins.
.This time we talk to the government – On NIC Homepage and Sub-Domains.
.There is no use securing. There is no use of spending on forensic.
.Get this message clear Mr. Prime Minister and others.
.We do not like to talk much and Yes! IT is our world.
.Expect Us.

Apparently, the people behind “Annonymous” had put a message on twitter yesterday, inviting all to join the fight against corruption!
