Gmail to add updates similar to Facebook & Twitter !

Things are seriously heating up – After Facebook announcing that it will be launching their own web-based email, Google, it seems, will be integrating social elements into its popular web-mail interface.google-twitter-real-time-searchfacebook Gmail to add updates similar to Facebook & Twitter !

According to article appeared in Wall Street Journal yesterday – Gmail web interface will add a module that will display a stream of updates from individuals a user chooses to connect –something very similar It is a format popularized by Facebook and Twitter.

Simply put, it will be something (I am speculating here) similar to Google Email Chat, but will be more public with users viewing each others updates. The article also mentions that updates will eventually include content that a user’s connections share through Google’s YouTube video site and Picasa photo service.

Seeing the way things are progressing, it may not be far when we might see 3-4 major players giving bouquet of all services and trying to become one-stop-destination for all-that-is-socially-required

Whats your take guys?
