Many declared that iPad would be a big failure, and it seems they were right on the money. iPad seems to have lost the buzz in very short period of time, and not only that, many are not at all interested in buying it – either now or in the future.
Are you interested in buying an iPad?
According to recent Retrovo study on people’s opinion comparison before & after the launch of iPad, more than half of them are not interested. The number of respondents saying they had heard about the tablet but were not interested in buying one, doubled from 26% before the announcement to over 52% following the announcement.

Do you need an iPad?
One of the main reason why many pundits said, iPad would fail was simple – It does not resolve any pain-point that current consumers face. The study corroborated that fact as well. To the question – Do you need a iPad? – 61% of them said they don’t need it as compared to 49% with same answer before the launch.

iPad Buzz
Apart from the survey if you look at if iPad managed to sustain the buzz – It is a clear NO ! According to Google trends, only 2 days – a day prior and on the launch date, iPad got good amount of buzz, sharply falling after that !

These are early days to really make a full judgment on success of iPad, but from the initial reactions, the future of iPad does not look all too bright !

Comments
I do not know much people who buy Apple products to solve problems. If one has to just solve problems, he will buy an less expensive alternative. Apple is a novelty class. Apple users are less in no. compared to Windows, Nokia, Samsung, etc. users, but I think they would outperform other brand in their brand loyalty. So Apple ipad will definitely find audience and do well with it.
Just wanted to write a quick update on few stats i saw last month:-
1. Apple sold 3.27 million iPads -– less than three months after the launch.
a. it sold ~1 million in first 28 days
b. sold next ~2 million is next 22 days!
2. iPad brought in $2 billion in revenue (a product category that wasnt there a year ago)
a. the revenues were more than iPod($1.5 b) coz its a mature product
b. less than iPhone(5.2 b)
3. Kindle, Nook cut their prices ever since iPad launch.
For me the moral of the story is, all consumer might not be innovators but a lot of them are early adopters and followers, and iPad proves that.
I personally won’t buy an iPad coz i dont find it useful however, let me tell you its a mesmerizing gadget for sure!
