Google has announced that it will soon open up a web storefront selling online business software that integrates with its Web services according to WSJ report. The store will sell business software developed by third party to integrate and add capabilities to Google Apps, such as enhanced security features or the ability to import contacts among others.

This Google store is expected to launch as early as march.
This is an interesting move to say the least – especially because, Google is taking Microsoft head-on and wants to extend the capabilities of its Google Apps offering thereby making it attractive to large businesses. This is an important step for Google in capturing the Email / Business Collaboration market share from Microsoft.
Google’s goal is to jump-start the growth of its online-software businesses, which it hopes will be a future sales engine for the company as its advertising business matures. The new store represents its latest attempt to get customers to switch to its online offerings and away from Microsoft programs. [source]
Currently, 2 million businesses using Google app (paid/ free) as compared to close to 500 million users of Microsoft.
Google currently already has a solutions marketplace where it features third party apps developed on Google products such as apps and Android – However, Solutions Marketplace doesn’t have e-commerce capabilities, meaning that customers interested in purchasing the products and services have to contact the vendors by going to their Web sites or calling them on the phone.
"The Google Solutions Marketplace is an information resource and portal for customers to connect with third-party vendors,"
I think this Google store will actually be an extension to this solutions marketplace, where users can actually buy the third party apps and Google will probably take the commission from all the sales happening at this marketplace.
