Media Monday: FIFA and Sony to start 3D revolution in broadcasting

by rabigupta on December 7, 2009

FIFA_09Sony hasn’t faltered this time! In fact they are bang on!! FIFA has signed a Media deal with Sony to allow it to broadcast 25 World Cup matches in 3D Technology.

But these matches would not be telecasted Live for now, Sony will record these matches and the footage will be broadcasted at the FIFA International Fan Fests across some selected cities.

Sony Pictures Entertainment will also produce and distribute the official 3D film of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ after the event.

Raju Srivastava more popular than Big B

bigg-boss-posterA study by Ormax ‘Characters India Loves’ suggests that Raju Srivastava is 3rd most liked non-fiction character on Television. He’s behind Anandi from Balika Vadhu and Akshara from ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kahlata hai’. Salman Khan from ‘Dus Ka Dum’ is third most liked character among male audiences.

14% of the non-fiction characters (which is 24% of total characters) are from Big Boss. But Amitabh Bachhan is not among the most liked. One reason could be his limited screening on Big Boss (once a week).

Colors riches its portfolio before US/UK launch

colors_logoColors spent Rs 30 Crore to buy the Telecast rights (both national and International) of 32 UTV movies. This looks to be a good move before its launch at US and UK, as majority of the audiences there love to watch Hindi movies. They have bought a combination of new and old Movies including Oye Lucky Lucky Oye!, Dev D, Kaminey, Wake Up Sid, Kurbaan and Jodha Akbar. Other movies also include recently bought Blue and Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani!

Looks like after becoming number one in India and getting nominated for “Indian of The Year-Entertainment” they are fully geared up to storm International markets.
