Its admission season, and many of our trak.in readers have requested us for rankings of Engineering and MBA Colleges in India, especially because we have been publishing the top college list since last 2 years.
So here you have it – We will also be following up this post with top 50 Government Engineering colleges in India list as well !
In 2007 we had published the Outlook India survey of Top Government Engineering colleges and Top Private Engineering Colleges, but this time around Outlook has skipped the survey.
However, Mint has published a survey ranking Top 50 Government & Private Engineering colleges as well on exact same parameters that Outlook had done earlier, so the comparison between the rankings can be compared and justified.
Following are the parameters on which the rankings have been done:
- Intellectual Capital
- Pedagogic systems (the art or science of teaching; instructional methods)
- Industry Interface
- Placements
- Infrastructure and Facilities
I am giving here the cumulative scores and not broken down on the parameters given above. You can find complete breakdown of scores here.
Some Notable changes in this list compared to last list is the rise of IIIT, Hyderabad from 5 to position 2. Vellore Institute of Technology has also jumped nearly 6 places to rank at 6 !

how is it that dj sanghvi scores lower on infrastructure and placements than vivekanand and thadomal?????its infra is atleast 5 times better than the others
hey the LNM institute of technology jaipur has not been considered and i suggest strongly considering it while giving these ratings because it scores well above many colleges in this list in Intellectual Capital,Infrastructure and Facilities,Placements and Pedagogic systems. My personal experiences with many of the listed colleges as a student states that LNMIIT is a strong contender for a good position in the list.

This is not upto the mark i would say…b’cause the recent changes in the rankings of the colleges is not updated..
Few institutes have maintained their status with NAAC ‘A’ grade, even after the new survey…
1.Amrita University,Coimbatore.

4.GITAM University,Vishakapatnam.
These are the universities which have maintained the infrastructure and academic standards to get accredited with NAAC A grade in the South India.
