47 Indian companies made it to the Forbes Global 2000 list

by Sriram Vadlamani on April 9, 2009

Forbes is notorious for its top lists. We at trak.in just love those lists along with many other top lists. We especially love if it is India focused list. Forbes has compiled this list of Global 2000 companies based on a composite score of sales, profit, assets and market capitalization.

47 Indian companies made it to the list of 2000. That is 2.35% of the global pie. Very less but significant. There are some dropouts’ from the list and few new additions to the list. The dropout’s balanced the additions. So we are even for this year.

According to Forbes, the Global 2,000 companies have combined revenue of 32 trillion dollars, 1.6 trillion dollars in profit, 125 trillion dollars in assets and 20 trillion dollars in market capitalization. (FinancialExpress)

Reliance Industries India’s most valuable company topped the list of Indian companies at 121 followed by State Bank of India at rank 150. The rest of the list is punctuated by the usual suspects like Airtel, TCS, Infosys, L&T.  It is also a diverse list between PSU’s and non-PSU’s . The list is diverse among sectors too though banks dominated the list.

Here is the complete list of 47 companies in Forbes Global 2000 :
