Tata Nano to be launched on March 3rd

Finally, we have a date for the launch of  the much coveted, most awaited car of the century. The 1 lakh car or Tata Nano is being launched on March 3rd. Bookings will start from the last week of February.

One has to pay 70000 rupees for pre-booking to get the car on March 3rd. Tata’s will be minting money in one month. Could there be a better time for the launch? There could have been if it wasn’t for Mamatha Banerjee. But, I digress.

Tata Motors is stuck in a huge debt and plunging sales. It is not able to pay its vendors also. Tata Nano is the kind of thing, which would bring them out of their bad patch. The bookings are expected to soar and we are not sure if the production will keep up with the bookings. That’s the only catch. Other than that everything else is taken care of.

The bookings can be done with Tata Dealers and State Bank of India branches. That is the biggest network there can ever be. It would be started with 100 SBI branches and eventually spread to 1000 branches across India. Nicely done for the people’s car.

Interestingly the news is coming from blogs and car related websites but not from the main business portals. March 3rd is Jamshedji’s Birthday and hence the launch. We couldn’t get the world’s cheapest laptop , but lets get world’s cheapest car right in.

Not sure but Pluggd.in has some interesting news on this launch. Tata’s are planning to give the cars to Prathiba Patil, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Sania Mirza, Sonia Gandhi et.al.. If that is true then I am a little confused. Shouldn’t they be sending the first car to Mamatha Banerjee?

Anyways lets get Nano. Come to think of it, would this drive the petrol prices and the inflation up?
