This had to happen. The way stock market was moving northward, it was just matter of time before an Indian became the World’s richest person. Mukesh Ambani is now the richest person in the world based on the soaring Reliance stock prices.
Monday was a historic day for Indian stock market. It rose by more than 700 points to touch the magical 20k mark.
According to news in ET today,
India’s most valued firm Reliance Industries, Reliance Petroleum and Reliance Industrial Infrastructure Ltd, the net worth of Mukesh Ambani rose to $63.2 billion (Rs 2,49,108 crore).
In comparison, the net worth of both Bill Gates and Carlos Slim Helu is estimated to be slightly lower at around $62.29 billion each, with Slim leading among the two by a narrow margin.
Warren Buffett, earlier the third richest in the world, also dropped one position with a net worth of about 56 billion dollars.Ambani’s wealth of about Rs 2,49,000 crore includes about Rs 2,10,000 crore from RIL (50.98 per cent stake), Rs 37,500 crore from RPL (37.5 per cent) and Rs 2,100 crore from RIIL (46.23 per cent).
Interestingly, two Indians feature in the top 5 richest people in the world. Mukesh Ambani at number 1 and Lakshmi Mittal at number 5 with a net worth of more than $50.9 billion through his 44.79 per cent stake in world’s biggest steel maker ArcelorMittal.
I will not be surprised, if in next 5 years all the top 5 slots are filled by Indians :)

Mukesh Ambani may be the richest but we should also consider his share in the asset of Reliance properly
Its a shame for us that we have the richest and poorest people in our country…this shows how imbalance our economy is….I would love to see increased GDP and commonman’s increased standard living instaed of an increased no of Indian billioniars…

It was proclaimed that Mukesh Ambani is the richest man of the world. It was released in many news channels that Mukesh Ambani beats Carlos Slim Helu and William Bill Gates. With this two Indian are inluded in the top five richest persons of the world. But news comes around all over the world that he is not the richest man at all. It was just fake news and the personal secretary of Mukesh Ambani cleared that it was just a misunderstanding and he is not the richest man. I am not quite sure about the news but I heard this story from a national newspaper that it was all wrong calculation of his wealth.
But may be this is a threat to Carlos Slim Helu and Bill Gates that Ambani is going to beat them in the near future. At a moment I thought that Mukesh Ambani has become the richest man because the Indian stock market is growing very fast and now it has rich the peak. Everyday India stock market breaks the record of previous day and creates new record each day. The sensex has cross 20,000 points many times in the yesterday session. If the Indian economy is growing in this rate, then in the next few years India will become the richest nation of the world and not only a single richest person. But I guess the richest person is going to be an Indian very soon.
Mukesh Ambani, the son of Dhirubhai Ambani is trying to make their business a multi-national and multi-directional business. They are trying to develop a software and service sector in their business organization. Now they are recruiting many engineers and techies from the top technical colleges of India. If their planning of IT sector in their business firm become successful and can beat the existing IT companies in India like TCS, Wipro, IBM India, Satyam and other IT companies, then the news of Mukesh Ambani being the richest person will surely come into figure again. It is proud that two Indian are in the top five richest person of the world.
