Trakin’ blog completed 5 months of existence at the end of September 07. It has been another great month from traffic and subscribers point of view. I have been receiving quite a few positive emails and comments off late. Heartfelt thanks to all of you, who have written to me and appreciated the efforts. A big thanks also to people who have been Trakin’s regular readers. The visits and encouraging notes from you is what keeps me motivated all the time.
Traffic Stats
The subscriber count is growing well too. Last month, subscriber base stood at nearly 367 and as of today, Feedburner count shows 679 – addition of more than 300 odd subscribers in last month. I think that is quite a good number, especially because Trak.in is predominantly a Business and not a technology blog.

The overall traffic growth was also quite good in September. The total page views registered were just below 70,000 with approx 41000 unique visitors. My target for September was 50k visitors , but guess, fell short by quite a margin there.

Lately, I have seen quite few technology blogs come up with their traffic and subscriber statistics; however, hardly any business and startup related Indian blogs reveal their numbers.

In my quest to Increase traffic at Trak.in, I am going to make a couple of announcements here (Complete details will be posted separately in individual posts).
In July I had mentioned that Trak.in will be going through a design overhaul. It has taken longer than expected, but is expected to comlpete next week. Although the current design is quite functional, the tag pages do not display properly in certain browsers and the sidebar tends to break quite often.
The new design is in development process as of now. In all probability, next week, the blog should be in brand new clothes. I would appreciate feedback from readers on the new design.
One of the other reasons for redesign is also that lately, I have been getting a few requests from advertisers to buy some banner space on this blog. In most cases, I have turned them down as they do not align with my blog’s subject. The ideal candidates to advertise on this blog would be startups and Web2.0 companies wanting to reach large Indian audience living in India and abroad . As the banners would be above the fold, the advertisement will be viewed by thousands of Trak.in readers comprising of mostly business and technology professionals and decision makers. Trakin Comments Contest:
Now to some fun and earn part. To increase interactivity with Trak.in readers, I am announcing an exciting contest starting 10th October.
Here are the brief details about the contest. I will have a separate post giving full details about the contest shortly.

Yes, that’s right just by commenting on any of the 230 odd posts that have been published on Trak.in. There will be additional consolation prizes too.
The only requirements are:
- The comment should be related to the post.
- It should be more than 40 words and less than 100 (approx)
- The comment should be made between October 10th and Oct 31st for it to be eligible for the winning prize
- The best comment will get the $100 prize!
- And yes, you should have a bank account or a paypal ID.

An exciting Indian startup!
I will be announcing a startup in online content display and advertising space of which I am one of the two co-founders. The other co-founder is working round the clock in India with his team to get the startup in its best shape.
Why is it so exciting?
This start-up will provide Bloggers and Web Publishers with an application that will help them achieve 2 important aspects. Displaying content on their blog in a way that will engage readers and make money in doing so. There is also lot more than that too, but I would request you to wait for an official announcement from my side. The startup will open up for private beta invites in the next week.

Neat Marketing tactic you have there – and i like the fact you have a word limit.
Thats what i like about blogs – you write what you want to write you choose what goes where and who advertises. You deserve it all

@Ashwin, the main purpose for this contest is to increase participation. I am surprised at the number of users who spend quite a lot of time reading posts, however, when it comes to comment, less than .001 % visitors actually do it….
You are a smart guy. ;)…That is a nice incentive to get people to interact. Yeah, 100$ for writing a comment is something that would get people out of their comfort zone and make them share their views.
